Zeemote and N-Gage have teamed up for another interesting addition for the popular N-Gage Gaming Platform. Nokia promises that the Zeekey application will be pre-installed in future handsets and will put a new way into the traditional gaming experience.
The Zeekey application will allow the Zeemote’s wireless controller to be used for controlling S60 phones. The Zeemote controller can not only be used for gaming, but can also be used as a remote controller for various applications on your phone, which normally require key presses. Those include navigating through the music player, shooting the camera and using the menus.
The Zeekey application is separate from the N-Gage application, but if you have a N-Gage enabled handset and a wireless controller by Zeemote, you can use it to control your favorite N-Gage games, by installing both applications. And since the Zeekey application has no connection to the N-Gage envorioment and uses the hardware only, no changes are required to the currently released N-Gage games or the N-Gage SDK.
“We can claim 100 per cent game compatibility from the start,” Zeemote’s Jim Adams tells the site. “Also, one thing we’re doing is letting users customize the profiles, so if different games or applications call for different types of button mapping, you can pull down an options menu and change that.”
Do you think that this controller will truely bring the future of portable game consoles (combined with the TV-Out cable of the N-Series)?
