Nokia N95 8GB Review – Pros, Cons, Advantages, Disadvantages and More

Nokia N95 8GB Review Pros, Cons, Advantages, Disadvantages and More 05 Nokia N95 8GB video
As I mentioned in the introduction post, I own one of the current finest phones on the market – The Nokia N95 8GB. Although it has its disadvantages, it is still the greatest and the most feature stuffed smartphone I have seen or used. I will try to share some information about the in this post.

Let’s start with the basic stuff…

With its 128 grams, the N95 8GB is surely not the lightest phone on the market, but it’s weight surely is backed by the amazing hardware that is inside. The N95 8GB supports those frequenzies: GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
WCDMA 850 / WCDMA 1900, which makes it useable almost everywhere in the world (except that the US version does not work in Europe and vice versa, which is because the two continents use completely different GSM standarts).

The size is fairly acceptable (again, compared to how much useful stuff is in this little box): 99 by 53 by 21 mm, although it makes an ugly bump in my pocket, which may be a little uncomfortable in tight jeans.

Its antenna is build-in (yes, worth mentioning for people who lived in a cave for the last like 10 years of the evolution of cell phones) and it has this amazing double-slide design, where if the phone is slided downwards, dedicated multimedia keys are revealed and the interface is switched to Landscape mode (the view mode switching was made automatic in the latest firmware, the tilt detection is using the integrated accelerometer technologe, which I will talk about below).

“It’s What Computers Have Become!”
Nokia N95 8GB Review Pros, Cons, Advantages, Disadvantages and More nokia n95 8gb namThis is the famous phrase by Nokia about this phone and it really is true and not a false advertisement. The N95 8GB is truely a feature packed computer with almost ulimited possibilites.

The main thing that draws the N95 8GB (and N95 classic) forward from other phones is it’s unique double slider design. I noticed recently that Samsung “stole” this pattern in it’s new phone – Samsung F400.

The stunning screen of N95 8GB is with size of 2.8″ (0.2″ bigger than N95 classic, but with the same resolution of 240 by 320 pixels, however the increase in size is really pleasant when watching movies or running full screen applications). The screen is actually brighter than N95 classic and is clearly visible in sunny conditions too.

The BIG Memory
The integrated 8GB memory really helps me upload all my needed (and not so needed) “junk”. I can literally upload and use hundreds of thousands applications (tha standart stuff like calculator, converter, calendar, alarm clock, barcode reader(!) and PDF reader(!) are already included) and games (not run simulteniously though, I will get to this too below). When I convert my movies and upload them to my phone, the watching experience is really pleasant. The better side of the N95 8GB from the N95 classic is the increased RAM (128 MB). Now I can have dozens of applications running at the same time and switch between them instantly (while the N95 classic can run maximum of 2 at the same time).

Since it has 8 gigs of memory, I can not stay without uploading all my favorite music (almost every audio format is supported: MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC/eAAC+/WMA/M4A) and listen via the either integrated stereo speakers, which make incredibly good experience, or plug the also-included 3.5mm headphones. Of course, there is a FM radio but which new phone doesn’t? You can use the Bluetooth technology to stream your favorite tunes to compatible wireless headphones or home stereo speakers.
